December 29, 2016

I'm writing this post solely for my own good. To hopefully engrave these messages into my own head. I hope that whoever's reading this gets something out of it as well, and if you don't, I'm sorry for wasting your time.

If I've learned anything in 2016 it is that you are the only person that will one hundred percent always have your back.

You are in this thing we call life for you and you alone. Yes, people will be on the sidelines. Sometimes they'll be your biggest cheerleaders and sometimes they will be doing everything in their power to tear you down. Live your life for you. Stop saying yes to things that you have no interest in doing. Stop hanging out with people that only bring negativity into your life. Each day that you are throwing away is one that you will not get back.

When you look in the mirror do you like the person staring back at you? I hope to God your answer is yes, but if your answer is no, I hope you use this upcoming year to learn to love yourself. Love your eyes that have seen so many damaging things. Love your thighs that you've spent hours upon hours wishing they would shrink. Love your scars, self inflicted or not. Love your mind for every sane and insane thought. Love your heart for being so big you give it away, even to those who don't deserve it. But most importantly, LOVE YOU. You are so wonderfully and beautifully made.

I really hope to use 2017 to create a stronger, braver, better version of myself. I am going to learn how to be my own best friend. I am going to learn how to be my biggest advocate, and my best motivator. I challenge all of you to do the same. Join me in loving yourself. Join me in becoming unstoppable.

I hope you're all enjoying this gorgeous snow. I love you all. Thank you for reading.

Love always,

A letter to my Mom, Dad, and Sisters.

Mom, Dad, Dani, Jess, and Abby,

I'm writing this letter simply to tell you just how wonderful I think you all truly are.

Whenever anybody asks me to tell them about my family I just simply look at them, smile, and think to myself, "Where do I even begin?"

Being able to grow up alongside my three beautiful sisters, at home, was the best gift I could have ever been given. Thank you Mom for choosing to dedicate each day to the four of us, teaching us and allowing us to explore and grow together. Dad, thank you for working as hard as you did (and still do) just to keep our family afloat.

Mom and Dad, your relationship is ultimately what I hope to have twenty years from now. Thank you for showing me what it means to love another person with all of your heart.

Dad. Where do I even begin? Your hard work and determination towards your goals and aspirations is beyond inspiring. You have taught me what it means to grab life by the horns and fight like hell until you get exactly where you want to be. Thank you for teaching me how to protect myself, and to always stand my ground. I can 100% say that because of you, I am a stronger person. Thank you for putting on your uniform, duty belt, and badge each day with a huge amount of bravery and honor. You are, and always will be my hero.

Mom. Thank you for deciding each morning to love everybody with your entire heart. I have never met a single person who loves as strongly and completely as you do. You make the world a better place just by smiling and laughing with those around you. Thank you for still being the first to say good morning, and the last to say goodnight twenty-two years later. You are wonderful inside and out.

Dani. You are taking the world by storm. In just a few short years you will be making the lives of many pediatric cancer patients a little bit easier just by flashing your big bright smile, and opening your heart up to each and every single one of them. Never forget that I will always be your biggest cheerleader and the first to run to your side if you ever need anything. Thank you for always being my person. I am SO proud of you.

Jess. I love you so much. I am so inspired by your generosity each and every day. I don't think I can say that I've ever met anybody who would willingly bring, and leave, their state championship medal to their grandfathers grave just because you knew he loved watching you play softball. Or, who would donate their entire paycheck to your favorite Camp Sunshine family. YOU ARE SO WONDERFUL. People don't tell you that enough.

Abby. Looking at you reminds me of the person I've always wanted to be. You are beautiful inside and out. You are so incredibly smart, strong, and driven to become the absolute best version of yourself. Thank you for always being a huge ray of sunshine in my life. Watching you morph and grow into the woman you are today has been simply amazing, and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

I would not be the person I am today if it wasn't for the lessons I've learned with the five of you by my side. Thank you for always being my biggest supporters, and for always having my back no matter what. I can honestly say that I would not be here today, writing this blogpost, if it wasn't for all of you. You guys are my heart and soul. You are my strength. You are my world. I love you all to the moon and back.

Love always,

November 7, 2016

I think it's finally time I speak up about some things I've learned the hard way in the past year.

Guess what? If you are not happy with where you are, you can change it. YOU ARE IN CONTROL.

Do you like the people who surround you day by day?
Yes? Great! Keep those you love close.
No? Move on. Let those people go. You do not owe them any explanations. Make a clean cut, and move forward.

Do you like the person you are?
Yes? That's wonderful, don't ever let anybody take that away from you.
No? Do everything in your power to change that. You are only given one life. One life. Let that sink in. If you don't like the person you are, who will?

Each day you let pass you by is one you will never ever be able to get back. Be greedy with your time. If you do not want to do something, say so. If somebody asks you to do something and you don't feel like it, simply say, "no thank you".

The only person you owe anything to is yourself. You owe it to yourself to be as successful as you want to be. You owe it to yourself to take control of your life and do everything it takes to make your dreams come true. You owe it to yourself to be your own best friend. You owe it to yourself to stand up for yourself when nobody else will.

"You alone are enough. You have nothing to prove to anybody." - Maya Angelou

Move forward. Keep taking steps, even if they're baby steps. You've got this.

Thank you for being you. Thank you for being wonderful.

Love always,

It's Friday, October 21, 2016. As I'm writing this it's 8:15 pm and it's time for me to get incredibly real. Today has been unbelievably tough for many reasons. I'm not sure how to pinpoint exactly what's causing all of this anger and frustration. But lets get to the point shall we?

If you are struggling with mental/physical health, addiction, anxiety, depression, body image issues, family difficulties, stress from school, money trouble, toxic relationships, or just life in general... know that you are not alone. Life can get to be ridiculously hard sometimes. Everyday brings on new feelings (good and bad). Limitations that you can either allow to stop you dead in your tracks, or decide to completely knock down. And hardships. Boy oh boy lots of hardships.

I'm here to tell you that it's one hundred percent okay to not be okay. If you're trapped inside of your head, if you're stuck in a bad situation, or just don't know what move to make next, I promise you that the answers will come. You will end up exactly where you need to be. Life has a very silly way of turning out perfectly imperfect.

If you take anything away from post let it be this quote, "Be kind; everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle".

As I write this post, I know deep down it's for me and me alone. I know that I need to read my own words, and get my thoughts out of the jumbled mess inside of my head. I thought that even if this helps one other person besides myself, it's worth making myself completely vulnerable.

YOU are beautiful. YOU are so strong. YOU can overcome anything life throws your way.

Love always,

Women In The World: 8

Hello my loves!

This segment of Women In The World is extra special to me. Today I am sharing my interview with the lovely Sharon Bridson. Meeting Sharon while volunteering at Camp Sunshine just a few weeks ago was such a huge blessing! Talk about empowering, motivational, grab life by the horns kind of lady! Sharon is by far one of the strongest women I have ever met, and I am very excited for all of you to get to know her a little bit!

Sharon Bridson:

Age: 57 years old
Location: Sandown, New Hampshire
Occupation: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and Yoga Teacher

1. What is the first thing on your bucket list?
I don't really have a bucket list but I would like to jump out of a train and travel more!

2. How has becoming a mother changed your outlook on life?
Raising children in this world is scary but you can only walk on faith or fear. You can't walk on both and I try to remember that when I get nervous or uneasy.

3. What is one way you de-stress at the end of a long day?
I start my day by de-stressing. I get up each morning and I sit on the couch or outside for a half an hour and practice mindfulness. As my mind wanders I just bring it back and try to breathe, and calm my mind before all the craziness starts. At night I usually take or teach a yoga class and watch TV or read.

4. Who is your hero? Why?
I have many heroes. One group is students who struggle with learning and still come to school everyday, and the other group are all of the sick children and their families that fight the terminal illnesses that they face.

5. What has been the biggest life lesson you have learned this far?
Everything changes all the time. You can't get attached to ideas or people (in an unhealthy needy way) because change will happen whether you want it to or not. It is the only thing that we KNOW will happen.

My all time favorite thing about Sharon is that she empowers everyone around her. She is not afraid to tell people how beautiful and wonderful they truly are.

Good morning sunshine!

This morning waking up early to go to spin was rough. After just walking 26.2 miles, my body aches. But guess what? I am alive, healthy, and fully capable of anything life throws my way today.

It's time to wake up everyday with the determination to better not only yourself, but the world around you. You are a gift and your light shines so bright. You are strong, beautiful, and important.

Be your own best friend. Chose to love yourself. I promise you it will be 100% worth it. If your looking for a sign, this is it.

Thank you for being wonderfully, unapologetically you.

Thank you for reading!

Nanny's Famous Zucchini Bread and Pumpkin Scones!

I hope everyone reading this is having a fabulous Labor Day weekend. I know that I sure have! This past Saturday I spent my night baking up a storm with my Nanny and my Mom. It was so nice to have a relaxing night in making delicious treats, and enjoying each others company. I kid you not, my Nanny's zucchini bread recipe is to die for! It has always been one of my all time favorite things to eat.

Zucchini Bread:

Preheat oven to 350 F, bake for 50-60 minutes!

3 eggs well beaten
1 cup of oil
2 cups of sugar
2 cups of well packed grated zucchini
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups of flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking soda

Optional: 1 cup of chocolate chips, raisins, or nuts

You can use whatever type of flour, sugar, or oil that you prefer! It's very easy to change this recipe to fit your own personal preferences.

We also made Chungah's, from Damn Delicious, Starbucks Pumpkin Scone copy cat recipe that I will link here! They turned out to be so delicious, which I wasn't surprised by at all! I highly recommend making them, especially with fall just around the corner!

Let me know if you end up testing out either of these two recipes, I promise you won't be disappointed!

Have a great rest of your day! Thank you for reading!

Spotlight On: Madison Dussault

Good morning everyone! Happy Saturday!

As most of you may know I'm obsessed with all things home decor and rustic DIY's lately! My friend Brittany and I have been trying to get my apartment looking and feeling like home. It's been a blast going to different Home Goods stores and antique shops searching for things we think would be a good fit.

For the past couple of months my friend Madison has been posting all of these incredible projects on Facebook. The other day I saw that she had created her own personal page to showcase her work. As I was scrolling down I kept thinking to myself, "I want this, and that... oh and that too!"

I reached out to her because I don't think I've seen something she has made that I did not like. I thought you all would be interested in seeing her work as well. That being said, let me introduce Madison!

"Hi everyone! My name is Madison Dussault. I am 20 years old and live in a very small town called Warwick, MA. I recently started a little business that I named Madison's Rustic Creations, showcasing all of my talent and creativity into home decor. Living in Warwick has many perks; peace and quiet, and being able to thoroughly enjoy the great outdoors. I’ve always had to make my own fun. Ever since I was a little kid I have had an artistic ability, looking at one thing and wanting to change it into something entirely different. Everything around me inspires me! Including one of my all time favorite websites, PINTEREST! Pinterest challenges me, making me want to try to build this, or paint that. There are so many awesome projects that I want to tackle,  and can't wait to accomplish! I am very passionate about everything that I do and I believe that it shows. Check out my Facebook page, Madison's Rustic Creations! Thank you & God bless you all."

While talking to Madison she was explaining to me that she spends hours on end creating each piece, and that her fiancĂ© helps her when she needs help with power tools. I think it’s awesome and so cute that they have a hobby that they can enjoy together!

Please visit and like her new Facebook page to stay up to date with her business!

Here are some of her favorite projects she has finished so far:

Thank you for reading! I hope you all have an amazing long weekend!

Women In The World: Mom's On The Move

Happy Wednesday my loves! I hope you're all having a fantastic week. I wanted to start involving women in this area who are also moms! That being said, let me introduce you to Hannah Gaimari

Age: 23
Location: Greenfield, Massachusetts
Occupation and dream job: I'm currently a stay at home mom during the week, waitress and cook at Hillside Organic Pizza on nights and weekends. I still haven't quite figured out my dream job.... But I can narrow it down to a few things. I think I'd like to either own my own cafe/antique business, maybe do something interior design related, or work with children in some way, preferably in the psychology field.

1. What is your favorite thing to do when you have free time?
Since becoming a mom I've found that "free time" is really hard to come by! I really just love trying new things, whether that be a restaurant, a museum, a book, or exploring a new place. Anything I can enjoy with Fiona is also a plus, since we're practically attached at the hip, we love hearing of new places to swim and explore nature together... She loves that!

2. Do you have a favorite season, if so what is it, and why?
My favorite season is definitely fall! All of those typical cliche fall things... I just love it. Cool air, crisp leaves, anything apple cinnamon flavored, pumpkin carving and costume making. Also I'm definitely becoming more and more appreciative of the beauty here in western Massachusetts, there's nothing like taking a drive up the Mohawk trail in peak leaf peeping season (as long as you're not in a hurry to get anywhere!)

3. Top 5 all time favorite books (if you don't read a lot you can answer top 5 favorite movies)?
This is a tricky one, I've read so many books and almost never keep track of the titles and authors, so here are my top 5 most recently read books!
-The Leftovers by Tom Perrota
-Room by Emma Donoghue
-The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty
-Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? And Why Not Me? both By Mindy Kaling
-Chicka Chicka Boom Boom (my personal favorite to read to Fiona!)

4. Best part about being a mom?
I'm really lucky that I've been able to stay home with Fiona every day, and I really appreciate that. So to me, the best thing about being a mom is having this amazing bond with this little girl I've only known for 15 months. She definitely makes me a better person, I'm stronger and braver, smarter, more patient, and more loving now that I'm her mom.

5. Where are your favorite places to eat/explore in Western MA?!
Northampton is always a go-to place for food. Local Burger is definitely a favorite, and the Haymarket Cafe is great, too! Oh, and the Bookmill in Montague! As for exploring, I tend to stick somewhat close to home to coincide with Fiona's nap schedule, but we love checking out local hidden gems like lakes, parks, and museums. We love Laurel Lake in Erving, we recently found Chapel Brook Falls in Ashfield, and when we're not sure we just drive until we find something worth checking out!

Thank you for reading. Do something for yourself today!

Love always,
