Vegan 30 Day Challenge - Final Thoughts

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to take some time out of my night to fill you all in on how my vegan challenge has been going.

Let me start out by saying this, I thoroughly enjoy eating a plant based diet. It makes me feel amazing in all aspects of my life. My energy levels are sky high, all of my acne problem areas have disappeared, and that sluggish/bloated feeling after every meal is nonexistent. But... there's always a but... My relationship with food has always been a slippery path. Because of my history with disordered eating, if I don't allow myself to give into cravings (I only get cravings very rarely) that's all my brain chooses to think about. Restrictions lead to obsessions and that's not healthy whatsoever.

I'm a big believer in listening to my bodies intuition. Our bodies know exactly what they need when they need it. So having to ignore the signs my body is telling me has been tough.

In three days my challenge will be over. Once it's done, I will happily continue to eat a plant based diet with no label. I think having a label on my "diet" will only lead to negative choices on my part in the future.

There are so many benefits from eating a vegan lifestyle and I have loved discovering each and every one of them in the past month or so. I'm very lucky to have the option to eat this way, considering lots of people all over the world have no idea where their next meal is coming from. There are tons of recipes I still have yet to try, and cannot wait to share them with all of you!

I hope you all have an amazing evening. Thank you for reading!

Love always,
Michaela

Nourish Wellness Cafe

Hey everybody, happy Monday!

It has come to my attention that there is a smoothie and juice bar in the area... I'll let that sink in. I cannot even begin to tell you how many times my friends and I have said that we wish there was one close by! Well, our prayers have been answered!

Nourish Wellness Cafe opened this past Thursday in Northampton by a wonderful local couple, Ashley and Ethan Vandermark. In an article I read Ashley stated, "The whole idea is, everything we create is good for you..." how can anyone not want to go check it out?!

Yesterday morning I texted my sister and said, "Do you want to go grab a smoothie with me?" So Dani, Zach, and I drove to Northampton to check it out! As soon as I walked through the door I knew I was going to love it. The atmosphere is so opening. They have mason jars (my absolute favorite), and cute little cacti on the table tops (my second favorite).

Their menu goes hand and hand with my 30 day vegan challenge so basically I wanted to try everything! I ended up choosing the Purple Prana smoothie, which was great! Smoothies, juices, chia pudding, buddha bowls, and acai bowls are just a few of their delicious options.

I highly recommend taking some time out of your day to go support this amazing business, and make sure you let them know that I sent you! I think this is the perfect addition to the area, and is exactly what lots of people have been hoping for.

Nourish Wellness Cafe Hours:
Monday: closed
Tuesday - Sunday: 8 am - 5pm

I hope you all have a wonderful day. Thanks for reading!

Love always,
Michaela

Wake Up Call

Good morning everyone,

Unfortunately in the past couple of days I have been thoroughly reminded of just how short and precious life truly is. Last night while walking around the track at Relay For Life, they were talking about what the luminaries stand for. How lighting the candle inside of the luminary represents a persons own individual fight. They announced a special guest speaker, and a little voice in my head kept telling me I couldn't miss it, so I walked over and sat right up front. Listening to Frank Marchand's story was incredible, and so moving. He spoke all about his own personal battle with cancer. One thing that really hit home to me was when Frank told the crowd all about the things people would say to him when they found out about his diagnosis. He said it was as if every person he spoke to was saying goodbye. Frank then chose a random women from the audience and brought her up on stage, asked her why she participated in Relay For Life, a bit about her life, and then said, "Watch this." He held her head in his hands, looked her straight in the eyes and said, "Thank you for all that you do. Maybe one of the dollars you raised will fund an anti nausea medicine to make chemotherapy a little more tolerable. The money you raised could potentially be what doctors need to find a cure. What you are doing is amazing. I love you." Meanwhile as he was saying this not only was she in tears, but the entire crowd.

Each luminary that sits around the track represent a father, grandmother, a sister, an aunt, a son, a best friend. We have all lost somebody. Lets make them proud by living like Frank Marchand does. Waking up and facing each day as if it could be your last. Live life unapologetically and enjoy each moment given to you.

My advice to you: Please go give somebody a hug. Whether it's your mom, significant other, or best friend. When you walk past a stranger today instead of looking down at your feet, smile and say hello! Please let this be your wake up call. Life is too short to wait. If you want to tell somebody you love them do it now, stop waiting.

I love you all, and I'm so thankful for each and every one of you. I hope you have an incredible day.

Love always,
Michaela Loynd

30 Day Vegan Challenge - Weekly Update

Rise and shine, it's Monday!

Mornings are my absolute favorite time of the day. There's nothing better than choosing to start your day off on the right foot! This morning I woke up very excited and ready to take on whatever today throws my way.

It has officially been eight days since Adrianna and I started our vegan thirty day challenge. I figured I should fill you in a bit on how I'm feeling. The amount of energy I have is insane. Before I decided to accept this challenge, I always felt very groggy and slow no matter what time of day it was. Now I get right up in the morning, take a shower, make my breakfast, and feel fantastic! My energy level doesn't fade throughout the day either, which has also been great. Another side effect I've been noticing is that my body feels way less bloated. No matter what I used to eat before I would always feel very puffy and kind of heavy... even if it was an apple! So not feeling like that anymore has been a nice change.

Eating new foods, and trying different recipes has been a total blast for me! Please comment down below and let me know if you have any recipes or foods that you would like me to review or try out.

I have some really exciting posts coming your way this week, so I hope you're all just as excited to read them as I was to write them!

Have an incredible day! Thank you for reading!

Love always,
Michaela

Women In The World: 4

Rise and shine!

I cannot believe that it is Thursday! This week has totally flown by. I'm super excited to introduce you to this weeks spotlight women! They're incredible people inside and out, and both are doing such amazing things with their lives right now! I chose them this week to follow after our sister duo because even though these two beautiful girls aren't sisters, they're best friends! I think it is so important to have a best friend to tell everything to, laugh hysterically, and just enjoy one another's company!

Adrianna Whalen:

Age: 21
Location: Shelburne Falls, MA
Occupation and dream job: Right now I work in child care. I haven't figured out what my dream job is yet. Next year I will be a registered dental assistant, and have been doing makeup for proms and weddings for a while now so I think that I would really like to expand and build my makeup business. I also want to be a stay at home mom some day.

1. If you received enough money to never work again, what would you spend your time doing?

If I received enough money to never need to work again I would absolutely be a stay at home mom. I want my future children to have a very present and involved mom.

2. Favorite flower?

My favorite flowers are hydrangeas!

3. What would you do differently if you knew that nobody was judging you?

Honestly I don't think I would do anything different. I truly believe in doing whatever I believe is right for me even if there are people judging me. I know that everything that has happened in my life, all of the choices I've made, and mistakes I've made have helped to build me into the person I am today.

4. If you could move anywhere and start a life, where would it be, and why?

If I could move anywhere and start a new life I think it would be Alaska. I just think Alaska is absolutely breathtaking, and I love the lifestyle that living there would offer!

5. What is your all time favorite meal?

My grandfathers mac and cheese! You guys no joke it's the most incredible thing on this planet!

Elisabeth Porter:

Age: 21
Location: Ashfield, MA
Occupation and dream job: I just recently graduated from Johnson and Wales with a BS in baking and pastry and food service management. My dream job would be anything in the hospitality industry that will give me the life I want to live.

1. If you received enough money to never work again, what would you spend your time doing?

I have always wanted to participate in Habitat For Humanity so I would definitely do a lot of those trips!

2. Favorite flower?

Calla Lily, or Rose!

3. What would you do differently if you knew that nobody was judging you?

I feel like I'm pretty comfortable with myself right now and I really try not to  care about what others think of me. If I were to change anything, I would choose not to care earlier in my life.

4. If you could move anywhere and start a life, where would it be, and why?

If I could move anywhere I would move to Australia! I'd go there because I wouldn't have to learn a new language and it looks beautiful there. It'd be like a real life vacation everyday!

5. What is your all time favorite meal?

I like food too much to choose one meal but some of my favorites are cinnamon buns, Alfredo, and anything with potatoes and cheese.

I hope you enjoyed learning more about Adrianna and Elisabeth just as much as I did! I hope you all have an amazing day. Do something for yourself!

Thank you so much for reading!

Love always,
Michaela
