Women In The World: Mom's On The Move

Happy Wednesday my loves! I hope you're all having a fantastic week. I wanted to start involving women in this area who are also moms! That being said, let me introduce you to Hannah Gaimari

Age: 23
Location: Greenfield, Massachusetts
Occupation and dream job: I'm currently a stay at home mom during the week, waitress and cook at Hillside Organic Pizza on nights and weekends. I still haven't quite figured out my dream job.... But I can narrow it down to a few things. I think I'd like to either own my own cafe/antique business, maybe do something interior design related, or work with children in some way, preferably in the psychology field.

1. What is your favorite thing to do when you have free time?
Since becoming a mom I've found that "free time" is really hard to come by! I really just love trying new things, whether that be a restaurant, a museum, a book, or exploring a new place. Anything I can enjoy with Fiona is also a plus, since we're practically attached at the hip, we love hearing of new places to swim and explore nature together... She loves that!

2. Do you have a favorite season, if so what is it, and why?
My favorite season is definitely fall! All of those typical cliche fall things... I just love it. Cool air, crisp leaves, anything apple cinnamon flavored, pumpkin carving and costume making. Also I'm definitely becoming more and more appreciative of the beauty here in western Massachusetts, there's nothing like taking a drive up the Mohawk trail in peak leaf peeping season (as long as you're not in a hurry to get anywhere!)

3. Top 5 all time favorite books (if you don't read a lot you can answer top 5 favorite movies)?
This is a tricky one, I've read so many books and almost never keep track of the titles and authors, so here are my top 5 most recently read books!
-The Leftovers by Tom Perrota
-Room by Emma Donoghue
-The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty
-Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? And Why Not Me? both By Mindy Kaling
-Chicka Chicka Boom Boom (my personal favorite to read to Fiona!)

4. Best part about being a mom?
I'm really lucky that I've been able to stay home with Fiona every day, and I really appreciate that. So to me, the best thing about being a mom is having this amazing bond with this little girl I've only known for 15 months. She definitely makes me a better person, I'm stronger and braver, smarter, more patient, and more loving now that I'm her mom.

5. Where are your favorite places to eat/explore in Western MA?!
Northampton is always a go-to place for food. Local Burger is definitely a favorite, and the Haymarket Cafe is great, too! Oh, and the Bookmill in Montague! As for exploring, I tend to stick somewhat close to home to coincide with Fiona's nap schedule, but we love checking out local hidden gems like lakes, parks, and museums. We love Laurel Lake in Erving, we recently found Chapel Brook Falls in Ashfield, and when we're not sure we just drive until we find something worth checking out!

Thank you for reading. Do something for yourself today!

Love always,

Women In The World: 6

Good morning everybody!
I'm so grateful that it's Friday and the weekend is finally here. My Women In The World series has grown to be my absolute favorite posts to write. There's something about getting to know all of these amazing people more in depth that is so special, and I continue to be so honored and thankful that they're all more than willing to share their lives with us all!
SiriRadha Khalsa:

Age: 21
Location: Originally from Leverett Mass, but currently in Boulder, Colorado
Occupation and dream job: Currently a full time student at Naropa University. I am working on getting a job but don’t have one right now. I have always had a passion for working with children and honestly cannot wait to have a family of my own. I want to work towards becoming some sort of therapist or life coach specifically for prenatal mothers. I want to guide mothers through a healthy pregnancy using yoga, meditation, exercise, and diet as tools to create a happy and uplifting environment for mothers and their babies.

1.What’s the craziest thing you have ever done?
It is really hard to think of THE craziest thing I’ve ever done. But I guess in the grand scheme of my life, going to an international boarding school in India without my parents since I was eight years old was pretty crazy. I lived in India on and off until I graduated high school so I practically grew up there. I feel really grateful to have been able to travel so far at such a young age and make so many friends from all over the world!

2.If you could live in a book, TV show, or movie, what would it be?
I think if I could live in a book, TV show, or movie, I would either choose Friends or New Girl. I know both of these shows are relatively uneventful, but that is why I would choose them. I love watching them because they are so simple. It is all about laughs and fun in those shows and I would love living in a world free of “real life problems” that can so often stress me out and make me feel really anxious.

3.What’s your favorite season?
At this point in my life, any season that is not winter is great! Ha! I have become so cynical about being cold all the time. But I really do love fall. New England becomes such a magical place in the fall. Between my birthday, the incredible foliage, and the county fairs, it’s pretty hard not to love it.

4.Where do you feel the most at peace/calm?
I feel the most at peace and calm when I am with my friends and family. I love a crowded house full of familiar faces. That is when I can be my complete self, and that is when I am the happiest.

5.Favorite Ice cream flavor?
This is a tough question for me because I recently went dairy free and I LOVE ice cream. My favorite flavor is salted caramel. However, I have yet to find the perfect dairy free ice cream that is equally as delicious as the dairy options.

Christine Russell:

Age: 22
Location: Shelburne Falls, MA
Occupation and dream job: student, and women's health nurse.

1.Up to this point in your life, what do you feel the most proud of?
I feel most proud of moving past what people thought of me. I’m proud to prove them wrong and to show that where there is dedication, there is success. Getting a great education and putting 100% into being the best nurse possible is something I will always be proud of.

2. What does a perfect day look like to you?
The perfect day would start at about 830 am with a hike up sugarloaf in south Deerfield MA. And would ultimately end snuggled up with my fiancé watching a good movie.

3. Best local restaurant and favorite thing to order off of their menu?
Oh gosh, I can't possibly pick one so here's two: Alina's Ristorante in Hadley MA and India House in Northampton MA. At Alina's I ALWAYS get the chicken Marsala on a bed of pasta with a local vegetable! India house makes the absolute best Tikka Masala (aka a creamy curry sauce) with chicken and rice.

4. All time favorite place to go on vacation?
Key west has my heart when it comes to my absolute favorite vacation spot.

5. If you could trade lives with one person for an entire day who would it be and why?
Personally, I wouldn't trade a day with anyone. Everyone has daily struggles and I wouldn't trade mine for the world.

Kristan Rogers:

Age: 28
Location: Searsport, Maine
Occupation: Photographer Dream Job: Honestly, my dream job is to be a stay at home mom, and I'm very grateful to have a husband who supports that!

1. What's your favorite part about living in Maine?
My favorite part about living in Maine is being able to explore its beauty everyday. Living just a stones throw away from the ocean is a dream. Beach combing and collecting sea glass and sea pottery is my favorite thing to do at low tide. Not only is it relaxing, but the excitement you feel when your eye catches a beautiful piece is unexplainable.

2. What is your favorite meal to cook?
Oh gosh... Favorite meal to cook? I don't think I can choose. I'm such a foodie, so I'm always trying new things and changing up old recipes. I love going out to eat, trying something new, and then coming home and trying to replicate the flavors. However, my go to meals are always Asian inspired, it's like my comfort food.

3. What advice would you give your younger self?
I would tell myself not to waste my time and money on college. Now, hear me out... This is not advice I would give to everyone. There are certain career paths that require a college education. If that's something you want, strive with all of your might and it will pay off. For me on the other hand, I realized that because of my many passions it was hard for me to pinpoint what I wanted to study and do for the rest of my life. I tried the graphic design path and after a year in college and almost $20,000 in the hole, it wasn't what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I realized after that I didn't have to pick one thing to be for the rest of my life, I really could do it all. I have a photography business, I'm starting an Etsy shop, I sell my crafts on the side, and eventually my husband and I would like to start up a coffee roaster/cafe.

4. What's the #1 thing on your bucket list?
My bucket list is full of places I want to travel to, so it's hard to pick a number 1. I would absolutely love to take a road trip around the U.S. And see all that it has to offer.

5. What are you most thankful for?
I'm most thankful for my amazing husband. Life really just wouldn't be the same without him. I have truly found my other half.

Heather Blackmun:

Age: 28
Location: Stoneham, MA
Occupation and dream job: 1st grade special education co teacher (dream job accomplished)!

1. What is your favorite season?
Summer is my all time favorite season because my mom’s whole side of the family shares a lake house in Wolfeboro, NH. There are so many memories growing up and special times with my grandfather (we called him Baba). He would take us swimming in the rain, give us candy before dinner, and always treat for ice cream. He told the best stories and was so goofy and fun.

2. Do you have any hobbies?
Horseback riding, swimming, painting, reading, and drawing!

3. What’s the most important life lesson you’ve learned so far?
Pay it forward by always being humble and kind even when it is not returned. I also love something my boyfriend Nate always says, “work to live, don’t live to work”, life is too valuable and short to be working all of the time. Make time for adventures and experiences.

4. All time favorite dessert?
I love chocolate mouse and cheesecake. It’s even better when they are combined!

5. If you were given the opportunity to move anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I hope your weekends are filled with joy and lots of laughter! Thank you for reading!

Love always,

Want To Grab A Coffee: 2

Rise and shine!

Happy Wednesday everyone! You've made it halfway through your week, congratulations!

I want to start this post off by asking you all a question. Once you read the question, do me a favor and really think about your own personal answer. If you feel like sharing, please feel free to send me your answer via social media!

When did your happiness start being based off of numbers?

Many of you will view this question differently, and that's okay.

We tend to get caught up in the importance of numbers all throughout our lives. Whether it be the number on a scale, grades, numbers in our bank accounts, or the number of material items we own (cars, purses, houses, pairs of shoes). We're constantly allowing ourselves to get caught up in what we do not have, rather than enjoying what we do. Stop letting the number in your bank accounts have a choke hold over your life. Stop allowing the number that appears when you step onto a scale to send you into a downward spiral.

You are worth more than a number. Your self worth is higher then any number could ever amount to.

I hope you all have an amazing rest of your day, and week. Please feel free to comment down below with anything you'd like me to discuss or any blogposts you really want to see!

Thank you for reading!

Love always,

Women In The World: 5

Good morning my loves! I have been drastically lacking in the inspiration department lately. Not being happy with the overall appearance of my blog plus not having any new fresh ideas has been frustrating. Writing for my blog about topics I love is one of my favorite things to do but for some reason I have had absolutely no motivation to do so recently. I decided to stick to my roots and continue interviewing women who I find inspiring and fun to chat with! Anyways, today's segment of Women In The World is awesome, and I hope you love reading all of the interviews just as much as I have!

Katri Mizula:

Age: 20
Location: Montague, MA
Occupation and dream job: I currently do a few little part time jobs, which I like a lot! It keeps me from getting bored. My dream job would probably be a therapist specifically working with people with eating disorders or a nutritionist/personal trainer or a fitness model! But also maybe a stylist or makeup artist! I’m not really sure yet but I love science and health and the whole fashion scene.

1. If somebody gave you an all expenses paid dream vacation, where would you go, and what would you do?
I would totally go to Greece! Or the Maldives. Somewhere really beautiful and light and near water.
2. Best compliment you have ever received?
“I’d trust you with my life.” I’m not sure if it counts as a compliment but I took it as one.
3. If you could host a dinner party with five people, dead or alive, who would you invite?
Mother Teresa, Michelle Obama, Coco Chanel, Queen Elizabeth II, and Maya Angelou.
4. All time favorite song?
Hello, I’m In Delaware by City and Colour

5. What goal are you working towards at the moment?
I’ve been working towards this goal for awhile now- I want to be strong and healthy. Physically, I try not to focus on weight anymore since it’s counterproductive to my recovery so I just go with how my body feels and what I can accomplish. Mentally, I’m just trying to find myself and inner peace and happiness.

Abbie Boswell Cusimano:

Age: 17
Location: Shelburne Falls, MA
Occupation and dream job: I work at an ice cream/fudge shop. My dream job is to be a social worker.

1. What is your biggest passion in life?

I think my biggest passion in life is sports and exercising. I love the feeling of going to yoga, the gym or just for a run before bed and waking up feeling sore. I feel that it is such an accomplishment.

2. Are you a morning person or night owl?

I am such a morning person. I love waking up in the morning to see the sun shining.

3. Who has had the biggest impact on your life so far, and why?

The person who has the biggest impact on my life is the person that saved me. I don't know how to put this into words. But she was my social worker when I was taken away from my parents. She always knew what was best for me and would go out of her way for my happiness. She literally saved my life and because of her, I want to be a social worker.

4. What's your favorite song to dance to?

My favorite this to dance to is Don't Stop Believing by Journey. I dance to that song on the bus to any field hockey games with my team!

5. What's your favorite thing to order at your local coffee shop?

My favorite thing to get at Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters is a vanilla latte.

Maya Staples:

Age: 17 Location: Northampton, Massachusetts Occupation and dream job: I currently work at happy valley which is thus really sweet store in town, I love it! I hope one day to be a social worker/ therapist/ life coach/ meditation teacher I know it's a lot, but I am very passionate about all these things, and I believe that everyone should follow and chase everything they are passionate about in their life. The world needs passionate people who are doing things they love, it makes the world a better, more loving place.

1. What is your all time favorite thing to make yourself for breakfast?
I love acai bowls with pumpkin seeds, coconut, flax seed, and chia seeds. I also like oatmeal with raisins, cinnamon, maple syrup and chia seeds!

2. What inspired you to become vegan?
I had been feeling very run down and just wanted a life style change. My uncle has been vegan for 15 years and that really inspired me. I grew up in a pretty healthy household with organic food but I decided to take it upon myself to go vegan myself. After further educating myself on how awful eating animal products are for the environment and the animals (obviously.) I can't imagine going back to eating animal products.

3. What is something you’ve always wanted to try but have been too scared to?
I want to go paragliding, so I really hope I get the opportunity to do that soon. The idea of not having much control terrifies me but I know that it would probably be a life- changing experience

4. Is there a documentary or book that really changed the way you thought about something?
There are so many wonderful books and documentaries that have impacted my life greatly. The Four Agreements by Miguel Don Ruiz is incredible, everyone should read it. Forks over knives is an incredible documentary as well as Cowspiracy if you want to know more about a plant based diet/veganism; those are the movies to watch. The best documentary that completely changed my life was the movie Human. There are 3 parts and it is on Youtube. It's absolutely incredible, changed my life for good.

5. Would you ever consider getting a tattoo, if so what would you get and why?
I don't think I would because in my family that would be something that would upset my grandparents and parents. If I were to get one, I would probably get something with some sort of meaning, maybe the Chinese symbol for love ( I am not very original).

Jaimee White:

Age: 20
Location: Turners Falls, MA
Occupation and dream job: When I am away at school, I work as a Sales Associate at Urban Outfitters. When I am home, I work at subway. However, my dream job would be an event planner and/or public relations specialist for a large company like Livenation. I think it would be super cool to plan festivals, races, and other events and coordinate them all.
1. Where do you get your style inspiration from?
My style inspiration comes from all over. As for bloggers, my all time favorite is ‘hellokatyxo,’ her style is really similar to mine. However, a lot of my inspiration comes from working at Urban Outfitters. It’s a really trendy, laid-back company to work for, and I have gotten a lot of my style trends from them.
2. What's your absolute favorite thing to do in Boston?
Going to school in a suburb of Boston, I have the luxury of going into the city whenever, but also having a small-town feel. I really love walking around Faneuil Hall, and grabbing lunch in Quincy Market. Also, nothing beats the shops on Newbury St. There are a lot of fun things to do in Boston; it is hard to just pinpoint one!
3. If you could travel the world, which are the five places you’d never miss?
Traveling the world is my #1 thing to do after college graduation. Although I want to explore outside of the US, there are still other states in the US that I want to see! So, if I could travel… I would love to go to 1) Colorado 2) Oregon 3) Antigua 4) MyKonos, Greece 5) Thailand.
4. Starbucks order?
When in doubt, strawberry acai it out? I always get a venti strawberry acai refresher! They’re so delicious, not loaded with calories, and are actually… refreshing. However, occasionally I will get a craving for a caramel frappe.
5. If you got stuck in the elevator and were forced to listen to only one song, which would it be?
If I got stuck in an elevator and could only listen to one song, it would definitely be Fast Car by Tracy Chapman. I could play it on repeat and never get sick of it. An oldie but goodie.
